I've been wanting to get back into writing for a while now. The blog has been pretty neglected over the past while. While brainstorming ideas I decided to start tinkering with a post apocalyptic setting. I wanted it to be different and weird. I didn't want to do a rehash of Gamma World or something like that. So inspired by the scene from the planet of Sakaar in Thor: Ragnarok I came up with the following:
The Golden
World That Was
According to the legends the world of Thrjaxia
(TH-RAY-AXE-EE-AH) was a rare jewel in the universe. The entire planet had come
together under a grand utopia. No more war or sickness. No corporate greed or
starving people. The planet was the epicenter of art, learning and peace in the
universe.
But not everyone in the universe was
content with the state of affairs on Thrjaxia. The barbaric Bakkurra, covetous of
the Thrjaxians wealth and believing that the Thrjaxian’s way of life had made
them soft and ripe for attack, invaded the planet. For the first time in the
Thrjaxian’s memory war ravaged the planet. The Thrjaxians though peaceful,
fought back to the best of their ability. For a time, it looked as if the
Thrjaxians might be able to turn back the Bakkurrans. But the Bakkurran war
machine was skilled and tenacious and it would only be a matter of time until
Thrjaxia would fall to the invaders.
The inspiration for my Waste World of Thrjaxia |
The
Day of Torn Sky
The war with the Bakkurra invaders had
little to do with the present devastation of the planet, though the landscape
does bear the indelible scars from that war. The blame for the apocalypse that
is responsible for ravaging the the planet was the result of something far stranger,
the Day of Torn Sky. On a day as normal as any other the skies around the world
torn open with a barrage of thunderous claps. Hundreds of neon coloured holes cracking
with electric energy tore open in the sky above. Before anyone could react, the
rifts began vomiting detritus of what could only be waste from some unknown beyond.
Stay tuned for more...
